Hay There World. My name is Merlyn… Merlyn Rutherford. For 20 years my life revolved around hay. My husband Jim and I ran a Dude Ranch in New Hampshire. We met fantastic people from all over the world and had a great time. Nevertheless, my life consisted of picking up bales of hay from the fields, hauling them home, stacking them in the hayloft, feeding hay to the horses, a-a-and cleaning up the used up, digested remains, and trucking it to the great hill out back that we called Manure Mountain. In fact, my husband says that working with horses is a little like playing the stock market ~ you put $100 dollars worth of hay in one end, and get $5.00 worth of fertilizer from the other. So you see why it has become habit to greet people with “Hay There."
I love people, any type, any age. Jim & I have ten children, twenty four grandkids, and five great grandkids. I enjoy everything about my life, and enjoy sharing my experiences with anyone who will listen.
Since closing the Dude Ranch in 2004 , we have researched a number of home businesses. Some were pretty disastrous.
Our first venture was to take an online course to learn how to make money on the internet. The teaching was informative, however, the deal was that you could get your money back if you took all of the classes and were not satisfied. The teachers kept canceling classes and not rescheduling. When we asked for our money back, they said, “No way, you didn’t take all of the classes.” This was a four figure expense that we could not afford to just let fly out the window. We did get our money back eventually.
The next venture was a company that sold cell phones… well they actually gave away cell phones to people who would leave their current cell service and sign onto a two year contract with a new company. The cost to get started was over $2000, plus a monthly fee for a web site. The training was good, but in following their directions, we did not make any money. Further, after the six weeks of training, the instructors became very hard to reach, and after a short time, they totally disappeared from the face of the earth.
One more disaster of a company involves product. We bought thousands of dollars worth of product to get to the higher levels, and found out that everyone had these items. We couldn’t sell them on Ebay even for our cost.

Well enough of the bad news. We learned from our mistakes and, after doing a lot of research, we found the important things to look for in that perfect Home business.
We have found some great home businesses that are working well for us.
Over the course of 20 years or so, we have researched dozens of Home Businesses and have earned the title of Home Business Consultant.
